David C. Hagglund, age 62, of Iron River, WI passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at his home.
David Curtis Hagglund was born July 30, 1960, the son of Russell and Lucille (Johnson) Hagglund in Duluth, MN. David graduated from high school in Two Harbors, MN and then joined the U.S. Army where he served in Korea, Germany and at Fort Ord, CA. After his honorable discharge, David began work as a Correctional Officer for the California Department of Corrections in Corcoran and Soledad, California. He continued to work as a corrections officer in Moose Lake, MN, Oshkosh, WI, Black River Falls, WI and finally Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Jackson, CO. On July 31, 2010, David was joined in marriage to Karen Zwick in Hatfield, WI. Together they moved to Iron River, WI. David enjoyed working on cars and snowmobiles throughout his life. He would even participate in demolition derbies. He loved being in the outdoors, camping or cutting wood. He got the name “Five Dollar Dave” due to all the firewood he sold. He also enjoyed wheeling and dealing to make a dollar. He was a jokester but was always there to help others.
David is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Dennis (Aisha) Hagglund of Navarre Beach, FL, Danny (Kristy) Hagglund of Evergreen, CO; four grandchildren, Piper Sue, Ashlyn, Briley, Ayla; four brothers, Roger, Johnny and Willie Hagglund, all of Duluth, MN, Tom Hagglund of Aurora, MN; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Susan Kempffer.
A private interment will be held for David at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
