Curtis A Mathison

Curtis Mathison, age 80, a resident of Spooner, died at his home on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Curt was born on March 30, 1946, in Ortonville, Minnesota to parents Orlend and Irene (Karels) Mathison, the oldest of 8 children.  After his graduation from Ortonville High School, he attended the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the Carlson School of Business. On September 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to Linda Holmes in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.  Curt was a member of the United States Army National Guard for 6 years before being Honorably Discharged. Curt had a career as a procurement manager for several Tech companies which had the couple living in the Twin Cities, Chippewa Falls, and Spooner.  The couple enjoyed wintering in Lake Havasu City, Arizona for many years.  Curt loved playing golf, enjoyed hunting, fishing and the camaraderie that came with it,  He was an avid reader with history being his favorite genre.  He especially loved just being with family and friends whether it was to play cards (particularly cribbage), lend a helping hand with any kind of project, or just to visit and catch up on the latest news.  

Curt is survived by his wife Linda, children: Erik (Tricia), Jennifer (Todd), John (Tara); 9 grandchildren: Andrew (Maggie), Megan (Tanner), Nicholas (Anitra), Nathan (Marissa), Brennon (Mackensy), Caleb, Keira, Brody, and Ryan; 3 great grandchildren: Nikolas, Emilia, and Ella; 7 brothers and sisters: Mary (Al), Jim (Kathie), Terry, Deb (George), Brenda (Rayla), Joy (Maryann), and Brian (Stacy); and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

Curt is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Thursday July 2nd, at 10am with Memorial Mass following at 11am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner, WI with Fr. Papi Reddy as Celebrant.
