Clarence Julius Espersen, age 81, a resident of Hayward Wisconsin, passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure at his home on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Clarence was born March 21, 1943 in Sheffield Alabama, the second child of four to Charles A. and Anne Mae (Ford) Espersen. Clarence was raised and attended school in Hayward, Wisconsin and graduated from high school there in 1962. After high school, Clarence attended vocational technical school in Superior and was a mechanic for several Hayward automotive businesses until retiring in 2006. In 1973 Clarence married Susan Menzel and had two daughters before divorcing a second time around 1982.
Clarence regularly enjoyed folk dancing. For over 20 years, he did contra dancing, western square dancing, line dancing, and international dancing throughout the Northern Wisconsin and Duluth areas on a weekly basis. He also enjoyed driving, watching tv, and always tinkering and fixing things. He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, easy going nature and his laugh. Nothing could upset him except being late, and he could always be relied upon to bring the chips and dip to a gathering.
Clarence is survived by his daughters, Buffy Mohlman of Chicago IL and Lynn Brueggeman of Hayward WI; his four grandchildren Katie, Kyleigh, Jacob and Julian; his sister, Becky Allen of Halleyville AL; and eight surviving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Charlie W. and Billy; and his ex-wife Sue.
There will be no funeral service per Clarence’s request.
