Charles Hendricks Obituary

Charles Dean Hendricks, 72, passed away on April 5, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Charles, the eleventh child of Lloyd and Elsie (Lerbach) Hendricks of Springbrook, was born on June 22, 1951.

Charles is survived by his son Charles, Jr., daughter-in-law Sarah, granddaughters Mallory, Reagan, Olivia, and Ellie; brothers John, Donald and David, sisters Arlene and Donna; many nieces, nephews and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Elsie, brothers Lloyd Jr., Joseph, Richard, Kenneth, Thomas, Daniel and Larry, and sister Mary Lou.

Charles was employed as a logger for his entire life. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and riding his bicycle. He was especially proud of his long beard and was fortunate that he did not lose it when he was receiving chemo therapy for his cancer. He was well known in Hayward as the man with the long beard who rode his bicycle everywhere.

Charles was grateful for all of the assistance and friendship from his neighbors at the Galaxie Apartments in Hayward. Their kindness will not be forgotten. Thank you to all of the employees at Maple Ridge Care Center for the quality care and kindness they gave Charles in the latter days of his life.

Thank you to Bratley – Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory for their assistance.

A private family burial at the Earl Cemetery is planned for a later date.
