Caleb Ryan Nelson

Caleb R. Nelson, age 43, of Eagle River, WI and formerly of Hayward, WI, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019. 

Caleb Ryan Nelson was born January 21, 1976 the son of Mitchell and Janine Nelson.  He was raised in Hayward, WI and graduated from high school there in 1994.  Caleb began work in construction right after high school and after a few years started Nelson Construction.  In his free time, Caleb began boxing professionally which led him into Mixed Martial Arts Fighting.  As an MMA fighter, Caleb rose to the number one ranked fighter in the state of Wisconsin and was the State Light Heavy Weight Champion in 2010.  Caleb purchased Complete Welding Company in Hayward, WI which he operated alongside his construction business for thirteen years.   Another side business Caleb operated was Complete Cages, in which he constructed and sold MMA fighting cages.  After selling the welding business, he continued with his construction business as NelCo.  Caleb enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles and also enjoyed ice fishing. 

Caleb is survived by his four children, Lexington (Jacob) Nelson of Minot, ND, Logan Nelson of Minneapolis, MN, Olivea Nelson of Hayward, Elliot Nelson of Hayward; the mother of his children, Keeley Nelson; two grandchildren, Abel and Oliver Dotterweich; one sister, Erin (Kevin) Metcalf of Hayward, WI; fiancé, Sally Gobler; one nephew, Riley; two nieces, Farrah and Ivey; maternal grandmother, Lola Louden; and paternal grandmother, Lona (Charlie) Haskins. 

Caleb was preceded in death by his mother; maternal grandfather, Russell Louden; and paternal grandfather, LeRoy Nelson.

A time of gathering in remembrance of Caleb will be held from noon until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21st at the Hayward Funeral Home.
