Brett W. Briggs, age 52, of Hayward, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Rochester Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Brett was born on March 20, 1973, in Hayward, WI, to parents, Randy and Ricki (Frye) Briggs. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1991 and began working at the Co-op Gas Station. He later began working in concrete and driving truck before finding his passion for excavating. Brett worked throughout his life excavating for JR Excavating and Butterfield Inc. Brett was united in marriage to Michelle Kramer on September 24, 2023, at Summit Lake Game Farm in Hayward.
Brett was an avid outdoorsman and found joy in ice fishing, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, raising chickens, and hunting where he always had to one up his father, Randy, for the biggest buck. Brett also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, whether it was family camp outings, watching and competing in races with his sons, or playing with his dog, Jade. He was a kind man who was willing to help anyone in need. Many who knew Brett would know that he was a man of few words but great actions, and his love for his family and friends, though quiet, was immense and intentional.
Brett is survived by his wife, Michelle; son, Zachary Briggs; former wife, Kari Ann Keller and their son Chase (Ella) Briggs; stepchildren, Charley and Colt Christian; grandchildren Jettson and Thea Briggs; parents Randy and Ricki Briggs; sister Tammy (Dave “Nellie”) Nelson; mother-in-law Dianne Kramer; loving dog, Jade; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Everett and Elaine Frye and Burton and Geraldine Briggs, and dear cousin, Ben Briggs.
A visitation will be held at the Steakhouse and Lodge in Hayward, WI on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A service will be held from 1:00 to 1:30 PM with a luncheon to follow.
