Billie Ann Ketchum, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, at her residence in rural Sarona, WI. She was born on March 18, 1951, in Vermillion, SD, the daughter of William and Colleen (Opperud) Barton Jr. She was united in marriage to Michael Ketchum on August 15, 1981, in McHenry, IL.
Billie loved to take pictures and also enjoyed painting. She and Michael loved the Northwoods and the home they built. She took great pride in taking care of her property and enjoyed all the wildlife that visited throughout the seasons. Billie was an avid bird watcher and always made sure they were well fed.
She is survived by her stepdaughters, Shari Dagg, Sonja Santoni, Serenity Jensen and Shawn Nowicki; her sister, Barbara Theobold; her half-sister, Kathy Caekaert; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Billie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael; and her son, Michael Smith.
A private committal service will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Regional Hospice team Lindsey, Terri, Chloe, Pam and Barb for their compassionate care for Billie.
Memorials can be made to the Washburn County Humane society.
