Tom’s final wishes were to donate his body to The University of Minnesota’s Bequest Program. Thomas C. Wilcox, 56, of Stone Lake, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with kidney cancer.
Tom, as he was known by those close to him, was born on October 2, 1962, to Bruce and Elinor (Hedin) Wilcox, in Duluth, Minnesota. Tom very much enjoyed the simple things in life as evidenced by his compassion for fishing and his trips to Alaska, as well as, spending time with the family on Lake Lac Courte Oreilles, surrounding himself with family and friends, and the winter snowmobiling, that stirred his enthusiasm for the outdoors. His perfect end to the week would involve a Sunday afternoon lunch and cocktail at The Lincolnwood Resort, where his uncanny wit and sense of humor would “light” up the room. Tom also, very much enjoyed, his job, working for Todd’s Redi Mix, where many friends were made over the years.
Tom is survived by: his sons, Thomas (Natasha) Wilcox of Stone Lake, WI, Christopher Wilcox of Stone Lake, WI, and Adam Wilcox of Edgewater, WI, three sisters; Shari (Dana) Perkins of Saco, ME, Marcia Wilcox of Eau Claire, WI, and Linda (Ken) Myer of Stone Lake, WI, three brothers; David (Debbie) Wilcox of Spooner, WI, Raymond Wilcox of Stone Lake, WI, and Dean Wilcox of Hayward, WI, and five granddaughters; Autumn, Jemma, Emma, Tesla, and Madelyne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Elinor Wilcox.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, starting at 1:00 PM in Stone Lake. If the weather is nice, it will be held at The Stone Lake Lions Park Pavilion, if the weather is poor, it will be held across Highway A at The Stone Lake Fire Department. Arrangements were entrusted to The Spooner Funeral Home.
