In Loving Memory of Terry Pogwizd
Terrance (Terry) Pogwizd, age 80, longtime resident of Cable, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Friday November 29, 2019 at Water’s Edge Care Center in Hayward, Wisconsin. He was born September 28, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Jane (Matuskiewicz) Pogwizd and was raised in suburban Chicago.
Upon his graduation from Riverside Brookfield High School in 1957, he enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corp and Reserve until his honorable discharge as a lance corporal in 1964.
On October 24, 1959, he was united in marriage with his wife of 60 years, Beverly. In 1966, the couple moved from La Grange Park, Illinois to Cable, Wisconsin, where they would make their home and raise their young family. Over the years, they owned and operated several businesses in the area, including the Alpine Resort on Lake Owen, Pogwizd Real Estate, Construction and Development companies, and Tahkodah Hills Golf Course.
Terry loved being outdoors from an early age, especially in the Northwoods. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life and instilled his passion for outdoor adventures in his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; a daughter, Jeanne (Robert) Starling; a son, Michael (Natalie Walter) Pogwizd; three grandchildren, Rebekah (Derek), Melinda (Joe) and Olivia; and four great-grandchildren, Sova, Griffin, Colette and Gabriel.
A memorial service will be held at St Ann’s Catholic Church in Cable, Wisconsin on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 11:00 am with Father Dean Buttrick officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at St Ann’s from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
