Robert Allen “Kelly” Ruid, age 86, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at his residence in Hayward, Wisconsin. He was born April 11, 1933 in Hayward, the son of Clarence and Hazel (Nelson) Ruid. He was united in marriage to Dorothy May Williams on July 24, 1977 at First Lutheran Church in Hayward.
Kelly proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps in Korea, earning a Bronze Star along with many other medals. He worked for the City of Hayward Street Department before a long career with the Sawyer County Highway Department. Born and raised in Hayward, Kelly enjoyed many outdoors activities that the area offers including hunting, ice fishing, camping and picking berries. He liked to spend time visiting state and county fairs with family and friends. Kelly could be found making is rounds to catch up with his buddies at many local establishments.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Dorothy Ruid of Hayward; his children, Rosemarie Pelfrey of Oklahoma City, OK, Verle (Jean) Tworek of Elk Mound, WI and Bruce (Kimberly) Tworek of Fair Oaks, CA; his grandchildren, Chad, Jessie, Bobbi, Tyler and Ashlyn; his great-grandchildren, Katie, Bradley, Nicholas, Matthew, Jackson, Kennedy and Emmett; his brothers, Gary (Barb) Ruid of Hayward and Dennis (Diane) Ruid of Stone Lake; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Kelly is preceded in death by his sisters, Eileen and Corinne; and his brothers, Duane “Pat”, Bruce and Neil.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Hayward Veterans Community Center in Hayward. Interment will military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
