Robert Campbell Obituary

Robert G. Campbell, age 80, of Barnes, WI passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his home.

Robert Guy Campbell was born November 25, 1938 in Winchester, WI the son of Charles and Emily (LaRush) Campbell.  Robert was raised in Cable, WI and graduated from high school there in 1956.  He joined the U.S. Navy and served his county for over 20 years.  While in the service he earned five Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star; and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba).  After his honorable discharge, Robert returned to northern Wisconsin where he cared for his mother and worked as the supervisor of the Co-Op Auto Center.  Robert later purchased Deer Grove Resort on Upper Eau Claire Lake Chain and operated it for ten years.  Upon the sale of the resort, Robert retired.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and remodeling cabins.  He was a past member of the American Legion in Cable, Moose Lodge in Hayward, and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Cable. 

Robert is survived by his brother, Bruce (Florence) Campbell of Portage, WI; two nephews and four nieces; and longtime friend Irmgard Bergmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald and two nieces.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held for Robert at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI at a later date.
