Gary J. Eberhardt, age 75, of Cable, WI passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at his home.
Gary John was born January 6, 1944 in Seattle, WA, the son of LeRoy and Marcella (Eidenschink) Eberhardt. Gary was raised in Moorhead, MN and graduated from high school there. He joined the U.S. Army on January 7, 1965 and received training in computer programing. While enlisted, Gary wrote a program called Joint Universal Military Payroll System that was used for numerous years by the military. Gary was honorably discharged on January 5, 1968 and was given the National Defense Service Medal. After his time in the service, Gary returned to Moorhead for a short time and then moved to Bloomington, MN, where he began work at Valentine-Scherman in 1972 and then later in 1979 at EW Blanch as VP of Information Services. He worked his way to Senior Vice President for the company before leaving in 1994. Gary then retired and moved to Cable, WI. Gary and Jerri met in 1986. Gary was joined in marriage to Jerri Lee Lyman Stromgren in Cable, WI on August 24, 2002. Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed cooking, golfing, hunting, fishing, boating and taking his old car to the car shows and sometimes winning the trophies. His favorite pastime was snowmobiling with his family and putting thousands of miles on their sleds over a winter. Later on, Gary enjoyed winters in Brackettville, TX, and had many great friends there. He was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Cable and Cable American Legion

Gary is survived by his wife, Jerri; four children, Teresa Pemberton of Minneapolis, MN, Mike Stromgren of Brainard, MN, Matt Stromgren of Duluth, MN, Michelle (Aaron) Campbell of Coon Rapids, MN; son-in-law, Dave Margotta of Bloomington, MN, nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Kevin (Debbie) Eberhardt of Flagstaff, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tami Margotta; and two brothers, Roger and David Eberhardt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, June1st, 2019 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Cable. A time of gathering with family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. with luncheon to follow.
Honor Guard will be at American Legion Post right after luncheon.
Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at a later date.
