Dennis Witkus Obituary

Dennis Dean Witkus, age seventy-two of Spooner, Wisconsin, died peacefully in his home on October twenty-fifth, 2019. Dennis was born on February twenty-second, 1947, in Belleville, Illinois, the son of Edward and Eula (Martin) Witkus. He graduated from Belleville High School in Belleville, Illinois. He attended the University of Missouri and graduated from Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota. Dennis served as an assistant pastor, evangelist, story-teller, and beloved pastor to several congregations, including thirty-four years at First United Pentecostal Church in Spooner, Wisconsin. He married his lifelong love, Kathleen Ann Kosta on June fifteenth, 1968, in Superior, Wisconsin. He retired with his wife on December thirty-first, 2015, to their home in Spooner. Dennis loved taking road trips and traveling – ministering with his family to churches in forty-nine states and several countries. He did skilled work with his hands and loved helping people however he could. Dennis enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams and spent many hours cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sports events, concerts, plays, and other endeavors. He showed his love in so many ways – through his ministry, raucous wrestling and tickle fights with the grandchildren, written sentiments, good natured teasing, fixing things, and enormous bear hugs.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen, and children Jonathan Witkus, Julie Zaloudek, Laura Ferguson and husband Ray Ferguson, Kristine Fisher, and April Becker and husband Brett Becker, twelve grandchildren, brother Gary Witkus and his wife, Durrelene Witkus, two nephews, and many more brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews through marriage. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Edward Paul Witkus and mother, Eula Belle Witkus.
