Daniel Hetherington Obituary

Daniel Hetherington, age 76, of Stone Lake, WI passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.

Daniel John Hetherington was born December 20, 1942 in Chicago, IL the son of Arthur and Gerry (Brown) Hetherington. He was raised in Maywood, IL and graduated from St. Francis High School. Daniel joined the U.S. Army and served from 1964-1966 and was stationed in Germany. After his time in service, Daniel returned to Illinois and began a career in law enforcement with the Village of Hinsdale police department. He worked for 25 years at the police department. On July 26, 1997, prior to his retirement in 1997, Daniel was joined in marriage to Sandra A. Baumruck (Maresh) in Brookfield, IL. Dan and Sandy moved to Stone Lake, WI where Dan had been vacationing since his childhood. Dan enjoyed fishing, joking with friends and family and an occasional trip to the casino.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sandy; twin sister, Kathy Blumberg of Nekoosa, WI; son, John Hetherington of Stone Lake; step-son, Tony (Liz) Scott of Stone Lake; two step granddaughters, Destiny and Madison, half siblings, Colleen (Mike) Giamarusti, Ken (Ann) Hetherington, Bob (Linda) Hetherington; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Cindy Hetherington. A private graveside service will be held for Dan at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society, Northwoods Humane Society, or Death With Dignity.
